Helping Build Beds for Children

Helping Build Beds for Children in Need Across America This August

Irondale, AL – June 27, 2024

APS Foundation is partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a nonprofit dedicated to delivering hand-made, fully furnished beds to children in need, for a National Build Day on August 2nd.

Supportworks, a supplier of structural repair products to APS Foundation and dozens of its dealers across North America will partner with their local SHP chapters to build beds for children who would otherwise be forced to sleep on the floor or couch every night.

For Craig Williams, organizing the event simply made sense. “Participating in a build day with Sleep In Heavenly Peace is an incredibly meaningful experience for me. As the owner of APS, I believe in the importance of giving back to our community. Helping to build beds for children in need not only aligns with our company’s values but also brings a sense of fulfillment and purpose to our team. This initiative reminds us all of the power of coming together to make a positive difference.”

According to SHP’s website, bedlessness is a national crisis that causes serious issues in children and teenagers, such as hyperactivity, anxiety and depression, in addition to an overall worsening of health. The nonprofit was founded to combat this issue and has grown from a single chapter in Idaho to more than 270 chapters nationwide.

The event will be held on August 2nd at 2616 Commerce Circle Irondale, Al. 35210 and Supportworks affiliate dealers across the US. Each dealer will work with its local SHP chapter, which will supply tools and materials for the event. When it’s all said and done, Supportworks is hoping that this build day will be the largest-ever multi-location Build Day SHP has held to date.

About Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) had its start like many other charities, in a garage. It was Christmas season, a time of joy and happiness, a time of giving and love, but also a time of bitter, cold weather and snowstorms. A project that began with building one bed for a family in need developed into something much more. With the wood left over from the first bunk, another was created. Someone asked, “Who else could benefit from this bunk?” and SHP was born. SHP is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
