Challenge
In this case, the customer had an addition added on to the back of the house to create more room in the home. The foundation between the addition and the original home settled, causing cracks in the exterior foundation and drywall on the inside. Upon inspection the customer directed me to cracks in the entertainment area on the drywall. The
addition had begun to separate from the original house. Originally the customer thought the addition may be settling away from the original house but a rotary laser determined that was not the case. The settlement was occurring where the two structures met. The area around the house is known for holding water. It is likely that this lead to incompetent soil around the foundation.
Solution
APS installed 3 helical piers on either side of the additions foundation to stabilize it from moving forward. After installation we were able to provide lift and the customer is only left with a few minor cosmetic fixes on the inside of the home. The customer was extremely satisfied with the crew. They did a wonderful job cleaning up. The customer stated it was hard to tell they had even been there .The completion of thorough inspection followed by an informative presentation lead the customer to understand APS would be the best company for their project.
